Martha Herrera

Chief Executive Director

Martha Herrera is an accomplished education professional with extensive experience in bilingual education, administration, and advocacy for English language learners. With a strong academic foundation and diverse professional experiences, she has dedicated her career to supporting culturally and linguistically diverse student populations.

Martha holds multiple credentials from California State University, Sacramento, including a Multiple Subject Credential with Bilingual, Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) certification, an Administrative Credential, and a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development.

Martha currently serves as the Sacramento Regional President for the California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE), advocating for effective bilingual education programs. As the Program Manager of the English Learner Department at San Juan Unified School District, she oversees programs designed to support English language learners.

Her administrative experience includes serving as the founding administrator of the Language Academy, a Two-Way Immersion Charter School, and as Vice Principal at Fruitridge Elementary in Sacramento City Unified School District, which serves a highly diverse student population.

Throughout her career, Martha has held various leadership roles, including coordinating the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC), managing Title III and Refugee program budgets, and leading Family and Community Engagement (FACE) initiatives at San Juan Unified School District.

Martha's teaching experience spans grades K-8 as a bilingual teacher in Sacramento City Unified School District, where she also provided districtwide support for English Language Development programs.
